COMMITTEE

  • Board Members – Family Promise is actively searching for community members to serve on the board of trustees since one-third of the board rotates off each year. This equates to approximately 6 new members each year.  The desired time for being on the board is 3 years but it is understood life events take place and may require you to adjust your service to shorter period.

    • Criteria:

      • Passionate about serving Forsyth’s homeless children and their families

      • Willingness to advocate on behalf of the family guests and Family Promise

      • A background/experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:

        • Business

        • Fund/Resource Development

        • Public Relations and/or Marketing

        • Construction/Property Maintenance

        • Social Work/Human Services

        • Human Resources

        • Medical Care

        • Legal Services

        • Non-profit management/leadership (previous service on non-profit boards)

    • Commitment:

      • Yearly financial contribution

      • Attendance at monthly board meetings

      • Assist with and engage in fund development activities

      • Service on a committee as noted below (typically monthly committee meetings)

      • Two to three times a year weekend “on-call” for Executive Director to have some weekends off.

 

  • Committee Opportunities – Want to help, but cannot commit to board service? Consider joining a committee as there is always a project area that could use some help with ideas/skills and talents you have.

    • Current Committees and their Chairperson:

      • Public Relations – helps with creative materials, news releases, website and related activities

      • Finance – this group meets monthly to review financial aspect of Family Promise operations - Kim Maddox Chair

      • Transportation- helps to keep our vehicles up to date and operational to transport families/furnishings - Jim Geist Chair

      • Personnel- review personnel policies/decisions/recommendations - Randy Meincke Chair

      • Fund/Resource Development – develop and manage corporate donor/sponsor relations and bed Race and Concert Series event activities to raise resources for the program; also build regular individual donor base - Jim Hensley Chair

      • Affiliate Relations (Host/Support Congregations) – helps maintain and develop new relationships with churches in the community to either host guest families or be part of the support network of churches - Roger Fraser Chair

      • Program Development – helps with program areas of the Family Promise interaction with families to help them reach the overall goal of Sustainable Independence – Kim Bolivar Chair
