Emergency Overnight Warming Center for Forsyth & Dawson County Residents
Family Promise is opening its doors as an Emergency Overnight Warming Center when weather needs arise and when the center can be fully staffed with volunteers.
Information for Guests
When the warming center opens, hours are as follows:

6 pm - 10 pm - Check In

After 10 pm, you may be able to check in, IF the center has remained open. If no one has checked in by 10 pm, the center will not remain open.

7 am - All guests must depart the warming center

PLEASE NOTE: We are only able to accommodate people at this time, and space is limited.
No weapons, drugs, alcohol, or pets allowed on premises.

MEALS:
We will do our best to provide a warm evening meal and snacks when the center is open. This is dependent upon donations.
​
We will have grab-n-go breakfast items available in the morning.
​
We will have coffee, hot chocolate, and water available.
​
SUPPLIES/BELONGINGS
​
Each guest will have a cot. We will provide a pillow and blanket which you can keep.
​
Any belongings which you bring with you need to fit under your cot. If you have additional belongings, we will help you with storing them for the night.

NOTIFICATION OF OPENING
​
When we are opening, we will post on social media at least 24 hours in advance, if possible, on our Facebook Page and Instagram.
​

Information for Volunteers
We greatly appreciate volunteers! Without you, we cannot open the warming center.
For the warming center, we ask that all volunteers be at least 18 years of age.
PLEASE NOTE: We have MANY other opportunities for serving at Family Promise for volunteers of ALL ages and love for families to serve together in those!
All volunteers will be asked to:

Complete a brief orientation

Agree to the Warming Center Volunteer Guidelines

Sign a Confidentiality Agreement and Release of Liability
Training
A brief on-site orientation will be provided upon arrival.

OVERNIGHT VOLUNTEERS
​
Overnight volunteers are here for safety and hospitality. There is also a Forsyth County Deputy in the center while it is open.
​
Because you are awake while our guests are asleep, we do require a background check through our organization or one of our approved partner organizations.
​

Shift Options (With 15-Minute Overlaps)

Shift 1 – Late Evening: 8:00 PM – 12:30 AM

Shift 2 – Overnight: 12:15 AM – 3:45 AM

Shift 3 – Early Morning: 3:30 AM – 7:30 AM

​​​​CHECK-IN VOLUNTEERS:
During our primary check-in times, we need volunteers to assist with set up, check-in, cot assignments, and hospitality.
​
This shift time is: 5:15 pm - 8:30 pm
​
CLEAN UP VOLUNTEERS:
These volunteers come in at 8 am to clean up and sanitize the center area, cots, etc.
​
This shift time is: 8 am (usually until about 9 am)
